How it works

Your prescription

To place an order, you will need to have a valid spectacle prescription. If you already have a copy, providing it is less than two years old, then you're ready to order.

But....you need to be over the age of eighteen and not registered blind or partially sighted.

Otherwise, simply go to your local optician and have your eyes tested. Don't worry because following the eye test, your optician is obliged to give you a copy of your prescription.  If they don't they are breaking the law.

Don't be pressurised into buying spectacles from an expensive opticians, just go on-line and order from CyberSpecs.net

PD

!

The pupil is the dark black spot in the middle of you eye.

This pupil distance  (PD) is a simple measurement needed to process your order, and make sure the positioning of your prescription lenses in your new frame is accurate. It is the horizontal distance between the pupil of one eye to the other eye, (as shown below).

Our spectacles are manufactured to a pupil distance (PD) of 64mm.  Should your PD be different to this please adjust your order. Your optician may supply you with your PD measurement if you ask.

Measuring your pupil distance ( PD ) is very simple.

Ask a friend to help or simply use a mirror.  Place a rule, marked in millimetres, across the bridge of your nose as in our picture, then measure from the outsie of one pupil to the inside of the other. Take a note of this measurement.

If the two measurements differ slightly don’t worry this is probably due to eye or hand movement, just use the average of the two measurements. If the measurements differ greatly repeat the measuring process.

We need your distance PD if you are ordering distance glasses and your near PD if you are ordering reading glasses.

Your near PD is usually 4mm less than your distance PD, as your eyes move closer together when you read.
